SportsCenter Twitter time

SportsCenter was the first thing that I followed when I joined Twitter this summer. Any true sports fan must follow @SportsCenter. Every day no matter where I am, I get the latest news and updates around the world of sports. Updates include big trades, statistics, news and much more! Today when I was on my way home from Waterloo I was sitting in the car just looking on twitter and I knew who was winning all of the NFL games and even statistics on Drew Brees now tying the record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass thrown.

SportsCenter does not only limit to giving you information with their tweets, they actually let you be part of their program too. Every day they always have at least one tweet asking the fans what the play of the day should be, or even what the top 10 should be that day. Sometimes they even ask you to tweet a question with a hashtag to them if you want to ask a question to an athlete that is going to be on the show. This amazing communication not only gives you information on sports but it lets you become part of their show. SportsCenter also has many tweets shown and read on the show just from all of the avid fans sending in their opinions.

I know that there are a lot of companies out there that are using twitter out there very well, but for me, I believe that SportsCenter is the best. SportsCenter knows what their fans want, and delivers. I am always connected no matter where I am and what I’m doing plus I can even retweet everything that really surprises me just so I can always have access to it and to share it with all of my followers. In conclusion, @SportsCenter uses twitter very well and it really connects all the fans to their sports they love to watch, whether it is golf, football, soccer or tennis, @SportsCenter has everything you need to know in sports.

NFL Blog-The Place for a Football Fan to be

The NFL blog is a very useful and informational blog. The National Football League uses their blog to give users all over the world information on everything having to do with the league. You can learn information about anything from the success of some players and teams, injuries to players and even just the gossip going around the NFL. Any avid football fan can learn anything they want to and need to know from this blog at any time of the day. There are stories posted on http://blogs.nfl.com/ multiple times a day keeping all of the fans up to date with all the latest news.

Any time I am sitting around and wondering about what’s going on in the NFL and I want to know more the just the score of the games this week, I will go to NFL.com. When I can’t find what I want to on the main website, I can go straight to the blog where they have news about all 32 teams going up hourly. Looking at the top blog posts right now they have an article on a St. Louis Rams receiver excited to have a new offensive coordinator, a TE from the Indianapolis Colts thoughts on his new quarterback Andrew Luck and the week 3 rap sheet rankings. Already from just the top three posts I am learning about information from all around the league and just the thoughts and views of the athletes. This blog really gives you a feel like you are part of the league and you are on the inside loop with what is going on every day.

The best thing about a blog is that feedback is so simple. If you love one team and you want to meet and talk to more people that love the same team, what better way than making a comment on a blog. When an article is published on the blog about a new and upcoming quarterback such as RGIII, everyone wants to talk about him. Is it just luck that he’s doing so well in the first two weeks? Is he going to be a new and improved Michael Vick? There are so many questions on topics like this. With a blog there are answers, but there are also conversations and forums too where everyone has a voice. Even if you don’t have an opinion every football fan loves to hear about what other people think.

Information on every NFL team can be found on their own blogs too. Even though the teams personal blogs are not affiliated with the head NFL blog this is still how blogging is being handled in the National Football League. My favorite team the Denver Broncos, post all of the information about the team on their blog daily! If I ever want to know how the team is doing chemistry wise, or the views of individual players even if I want information about the injured players and how they are doing in their recovery, all I need is in the blog in organized articles.

In conclusion, social media and specifically blogs, make my access to information on a variety of topics much more accessible. The information is not just easier to access but it is also easier for the NFL to let all of the avid fans know what’s going on with their favorite teams. Whether you follow football just for the love of the game, or you have a fantasy league with your friends and want to get the low down on the players, this NFL blog helps out everyone is some way.

What Social Media is to Me!

My initial thoughts about social media are that it is taking over the business industry. Social media is the way that companies advertise, promote and even contact their customers so that they can ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. Social media can be used in many ways for this, from having promotions and contests over twitter all the way to just advertising your product with a commercial on youtube.

All companies are now moving towards social media as one of the main sources of advertising and promoting whatever it is they are selling. For example, there are not many companies out there without a facebook page, and those that don’t have a facebook page are being left behind because it is a very broad and free place to advertise your company to millions of people. Many television stations like Sports Center are now even using social media to include viewers in the show! During a broadcast they ask that people please send in tweets with questions they have for certain athletes that are being interviewed. Some of these “tweeters” get lucky enough to have their question asked and answered on live television.

In conclusion, to me social media is not new to me, but it amazes me all the ways that companies and corporations are using it. I have just started using twitter less than a month ago and it is already got me hooked because of all the things you can do with it and in all the ways you can reach anyone that you want to contact in a quick and simple tweet. Even in the simplest ways, when watching big brother they have running tweets from fans all throughout North America scrolling along the bottom just so that you can see the thoughts and views, adding a dimension to watching the show. Social media is always growing but it has never been bigger then it is now and it will only get larger from here!

I know that I really don’t know much about social media and can’t wait to learn more so that I can really broaden my knowledge and abilities with this aspect of business to help me be successful in the future. Right now we are just scratching the surface of what’s out there and what you really can do.
